like pieces of a jigsaw the group congregates,
meshing known/unknown faces into a transparent identity
not necessarily Buddha-like,
but certainly patient and determined
and despite incessant doubts
eager to find honour in the little things,
the formalities
the tentative glances across the table

we are mostly arriving …
one friend is departing,
her strand of destiny is ravelling/unravelling,
in Jaipur, then to Perth,
then to an unmanifest home

we are mostly arriving …
‘arriving’ is a generous word,
many bodies are several countries,
even lifetimes behind

we are also unmanifest
neophytes on an ancient road
